Described as “a magnificent scholarly journal” by Choice magazine, the Journal of Modern Greek Studies is the official publication of the Modern Greek Studies Association (MGSA). The largest and most scholarly publication of cutting edge articles in the literature, history, anthropology, economics, sociology, theater, and language of Modern Greece, the Journal and MGSA define their scope broadly to include not only post-independence Greece but also the period of Ottoman rule and the later Byzantine Empire, as well as those aspects of early Byzantine, Hellenistic and Classical times that have a bearing on the modern period.
