American Jewish History
An American Jewish Historical Society Quarterly Publication

American Jewish History is the official publication of the American Jewish Historical Society (AJHS), the oldest national ethnic historical organization in the United States. The most widely recognized journal in its field, AJH focuses on every aspect of the American Jewish experience. Recent issues and articles have featured the biographers of Golda Meir; the impact of American Yiddish plays and players on the Yiddish stage in Czarist Russia; and the changing Jewish political profile in the United States. A special issue celebrated the 350th anniversary of the Jewish people in America. Founded in 1892 as Publications of the American Jewish Historical Society, AJH has been the journal of record in American Jewish history for over a century, bringing readers all the richness and complexity of Jewish life in America through carefully researched, thoroughly accessible articles.
